Background & Aims: The positive effects of breast feeding on growth of children is confirmed. Breast milk includes all characteristics of ideal nutrition in infants being significant in reducing morbidity and mortality of children. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effects of a prenatal workshop integrated with telephone counseling on exclusive breast feeding adherance among primiparous womenMethods & Materials: A randomized controlled trial design was used the study population consisted of all pregnant women in their third trimester that referred to the prenatal clinic of Shahid Akbarabadi hospital in Tehran. The samples were recruited by consecutive sampling method and randomly allocated to experimental and control group. The sample size was 120. In this study, data collection instruments were a questionnaire including demographic and obstetric items and adherence checklist of exclusive breast feeding that were completed by one of the researchers. Data analysis was performed using SPSS.Results: The study findings showed that there were no significant difference among the participants in the experimental and control group regarding demographic variables, such as educational status, occupation, economic status, desire to pregnancy, and body mass index, except age. The majority of the women were in the range of 18-24 years old and the result showed a significant difference between the two groups (p=0.001), but at the post test, after educational counseling intervention, there was a significant increase of adherence to exclusive breast feeding at sixth months of postpartum in the experimental group compared to the control group (p=0.001) Conclusion: The study findings revealed the positive effect of the educational counseling program on the rate of exclusive breast feeding adherence. Implementation of such educational counseling in the prenatal period at the Baby Friendly Hospitals is recommended.

FAMILIAR MUSIC, THE OTHER KIND OF TREATMENT FOR ANXIETY BEFORE SURGERY (REVIEW ARTICLE)
V. Tayebi
1
Nowadays, various methods are used for anxiety reduction and mental preparation of the patients in the preoperative period. One of them is music therapy which is widely accepted in the complementary medicine, but there are still controversial topics about type of chosen music. According to the rule-following our body automatically adapts itself to the tonality and rhythm of the music. Listening to a light and peaceful music would cause increasing in endorphin secretions, reducing the heart rate, regulating and deepening the respirations, relaxation of the muscles and sleeping. In general, this kind of music is specified with regular rhythm, predictable dynamic, and harmony but the selection of music is based on the patients’ preference in order for the best effect. The music selection depends on several factors like sound quality listener’s charastictics the best result will be obtained using familiar music. The advantages of this method introduce the nessecity of using the music as a mental health procedure in society. Increasing demands of curative systems for documented health services brings up the need for more researches, regarding cultural, social and economic differences between Iran and other countries.

Background ;Aims: Promoting clinical education quality requires use of effective methods. Outcome-based education (OBE) is an educational reform movement that has influenced many countries in recent years. Despite the global acceptance of outcome-based education, the research documents are fairly rare about its effects on students' competency. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of outcome-based education program on clinical competency (cognitive skills and behaviors skill) of nursing students on hemodialysis ward. Materials & Methods: In a quasi-experimental study using pre-test and post-test with two group design, 26 nursing students were selected through census sampling method and placed randomly in 2 control and 2 experiment groups, each group containing 6 to 7 people. After taking the cognitive skills pre-tests, control group received traditional education and experiment group went under clinical education using outcome-based education program for 9 days. As the final step, the post-test cognitive skills were held and behaviors skill checklist were observed. The data were analyzed using SPSS software using Wilcoxon and Mann Whitney tests and fisher exact test. Results: The outcome-based education has been effective in promoting the cognitive and behavioral skills of students. The mean scores significantly differed before and after participating in outcome-based education and the clinical competency of nursing students in outcome-based education groups differed significantly from traditional groups. Conclusion: The effect of outcome-based education program on competency of nursing students was more than the traditional methods. Therefore, it is recommended to use outcome-based education in clinical education.
