Abstract
Background & Aims: Streptokinase is one of the most useful drugs in acute myocardial infarction.
Researches show that timely given injection of streptokinase decreases total mortality. Allergic
reaction and bleeding are possible side effects. This research was aimed to determine the adverse
reactions of streptokinase in patients with or without hydrocortisone- injection in Ramsar and
Tonekabon hospitals in 2007-2008.
Materials & Methods: In this quasi-experimental study simple random sampling method was used in
CCU wards in Ramsar's Imam Sajjad and Tonkabone Shahid Rajaei hospitals. The patients were
divided in two groups (those using and not using hydrocortisone). The data were collected with a
demographic questionnaire and a check list. Descriptive- analytical statistics (chi-square) were used
and the data were analyzed by SPSS software and.
Results: The findings showed in groups using hydrocortisone, fever and chill was %3.33, fever 3.33%,
chill 1.67%, vomiting, nausea , chill 1.67%, and PVC 53.3%. In the group not using hydrocortisone
chill was 5%, fever 5%, and PVC 50%. There was no significant association between side effects with
dependent variable.
Conclusion: There was no significant difference in side effects between the group using the
hydrocortisone and the other group. Considering serious side effects that may be happen after
streptokinase injection, it is necessary to have regular check-ups.

Abstract:
Background & Aims: Nowadays, women's participation in society has increased. In spite of having a
lot of responsibilities at home such as parenting and housekeeping, they work outside the home.
Mental health of woman has an important role in fulfilling the responsibilities. This study was aimed
to investigate the mental health and life expectancy of employed and unemployed women.
Materials & Methods: In this study, 397 employed women and 391 unemployed women were
randomly selected from the west Azarbaijan. Then the women filled mental health and life expectancy
questioner.
Result: Results of t-test revealed that there is no significant difference between life expectancy,
anxiety, and somatic symptoms of employed and unemployed women, but there is a significant
difference between social function of employed and unemployed women.
Conclusion: According to the results, special attention must be given to the needs of women.

Received: 25 April, 2010 Accepted: 27 July, 2010
Abstract
Background & Aims: Antenatal maternal anxiety is common during pregnancy and may have side
effects on mother and neonate. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between
maternal anxiety and neonatal outcomes in nulliparous women.
Materials & Methods: In this analytical prospective study 156 pregnant women were studied in Qom
health care centers. Anxiety was assessed using a self-administered Spielberger's state-trait anxiety
questionnaire (STAI) at 28th and 38th weeks of pregnancy. Then time of delivery, height and head
circumference of neonates, fetal growth restriction, respiratory distress, low birth weight and Apgar
score of neonates were obtained from the women’s clinical records. The data were analyzed using
logistic regression test, Chi-square, and Fisher exact.
Results: The findings indicate that there is no significant relationship between the rate of fetal growth
restriction, preterm labor and low Apgar score at the 28th and 38th weeks of pregnancy in anxious and
non anxious women (P>0.05).
Conclusion: The results of this study revealed that anxiety does not directly affect the health of a
baby. Finally, anxiety during pregnancy is an independent risk factor that may affect pregnancy
outcomes.

Abstract
Background & Aims: Smoking as a health risk behavior endangers not only the individual but also
community health and is one of the preventable causes of death. This risk behavior is growing among
educated young people. This study was aimed to investigate effective factors leading to smoking based
on BASNEF Model in male students in Tehran Medical Sciences University in 2009.
Materials & Methods: This descriptive analytical study was performed on 200 male students that were
selected by snowball sampling method. The data were collected using a questionnaires based on
BASNEF Model. The data were analyzed by Chi-square tests, and Pearson correlation coefficient.
Results: The survey results showed that the most frequent causes of smoking were easy access to
cigarettes (80%) and peers smoking (82%). Considering the attitude of the samples 33.5% had a
positive, 19.5% neutral and 47% had a negative attitude toward smoking. There was a significant
association between positive attitude to smoking and students’ years of study or parental education.
There also was a significant relationship between age at onset of smoking with either parents or peers
smoking. There was a relationship between low price cigarettes and the number of cigarettes smoked
per day. The average number of cigarettes smoked per day and students age and cigar costs per month
showed a positive correlation.
Conclusion: The importance of attitudes, subjective norms, and factors affecting smoking are
highlighted in the study and health officials must urge to pursue structural interventions to prevent
them.

administrative and executive managers in teaching hospitals. The data were collected by a valid and
reliable questionnaire, consisting of demographic information and asked about psychological, welfare,
and physical factors. Non-parametric test of Kruskal-Wallis was used to determine the independent or
dependent variables. The data were analyzed by SPSS software.
Results: Psychological, welfare, and physical factors were 84.20%, 71.42%, 66.66% respectively.
There was no significant difference between the factors affecting job motivation factors (physical,
psychological, and welfare), and demographic characteristics of managers.
Conclusion: According to the findings, psychological factors have the most critical role in job
motivation. Since psychological factors are inexpensive and have long-term effects, it is very

Abstract
Background & Aims: Hospitalization for parents and children causes anxiety. Therefore, evaluation
of parents' satisfaction concerning their child's nursing care is necessary. Observing parental
satisfaction is important in determining the quality of child care. The purpose of this study was to
determine parental satisfaction with hospitalized children’s health care.
Materials & Methods: The descriptive study covered 60 parents of thalassemic children in three
hospitals of east Gilan. Data were gathered by a questioner on demographic characteristics and another
questioner investigating the parents' satisfaction rate in six areas of health care information, family
participation, communication, clinical skills, overall satisfaction, and emotional needs. The analysis of
the data was carried out by SPSS.
Results: The findings revealed that 10.3% of parents were satisfied with the health care. There was a
significant relationship between parents’ age, education level, child’s history of hospitalization, and
health care satisfaction.
Conclusion: In order to increase client's satisfaction of hospital services more effort is required.

Abstract
Background & Aims: Clinical aromatherapy is the use of aromatic oils to treat or relieve some
physical and mental disorders which has been accepted as holistic nursing care. We aimed to present
some effects of aromatherapy that have been proven through various studies.
Materials & Methods: This was a review study. In order to access relevant articles and studies, valid
internet databases were searched and finally fifty six articles were selected for this paper.
Results: Effects of aromatherapy are: reducing pregnancy complications, relieving pain, improving
side effects of cancer’s treatments, wound healing, skin and hair problems, controlling epileptic
attacks, reducing respiratory difficulties, antispasmodic effects, and reducing stress and agitation.
Conclusion: Using complementary therapies such as aromatherapy is one of the goals of nursing.
Learning about the effects of aromatherapy, as one of the commonest and safest complementary
therapies, leads to achieve holistic nursing care. Although different studies have shown positive effects
of aromatherapy in diverse clinical settings, however nursing society needs more researches in the
field of aromatherapy.
