Background & Aims: The childbirth is one of the most crucial and important services provided by health care systems in all societies and like any other services, it should be provided in a proper way, with a lower cost and least physical-psychological complications. The choice of delivery type has a great impact on these kinds of physical and psychological complications. This research is a quasi-experimental study to determine the effect of education on the opinion of pregnant women in choosing the method of delivery. This study has been conducted among pregnant women admitted to the Fatemieh polyclinic in Urmia in 2015.
Materials & Methods: In this study, after approval of the ethics committee and obtaining the required permits, 160 pregnant women admitted to the Polyclinic Fatemiyeh in Urmia who fulfilled the inclusion criteria were chosen using convenience sampling, and they were divided randomly into two equal groups: intervention (education) and control (non-education) groups. To collect the data, a two-part self-administered questionnaire was utilized which had been previously prepared by the researcher and it included the personal information as well as the mindset assessment. The first part included demographic questions (26 questions) and mindset assessment on cesarean section (containing 15 items with Likert scale). The validity of this measurement tool and reliability of the results were determined by Content Validity and Cronbach;#39s alpha methods, respectively. After completing the questionnaires, the data collected was entered into SPSS version 20, using descriptive statistics and chi-square tests were analyzed.
Results: The mean age of pregnant women used as subjects were 29.04 ± 5.31. Statistically, no significant difference in demographic characteristics between the two groups was observed. Pregnant mothers;#39 opinion about labor practices in both intervention and control groups before the educational intervention showed no significant difference with Pvalue=0.536. The post-test scores were 45.61 in the control group and 29.44 is in the intervention group. With independent t-test, the difference of the mean scores of two groups after the intervention is statistically significant (Pvalue

Data were analyzed by SPSS software (version 19), descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation), and analytical (Mann-Whitney, T-test, Chi-square test).
Results: Results from Chi-square showed a variety of postoperative complications in the two groups, although not statistically significant (07/0> p). But clinical observation showed that the number of referrals for complications, especially for infection after surgery in the control group compared to the intervention group was significant (7/66% vs. 0%). The chi-square statistical test did not show significant difference between two groups from readmission rate (p

Garlic is useful for improving the complications of diabetes due to its various compounds. Cumin also plays its role in treating complications of diabetes. Therefore, the aim of this study was to compare the effects of cumin and garlic on blood pressure in type 2 diabetic patients.
Materials & Methods: This study was a double-blind, clinical trial on 75 type 2 diabetic patients referred to Imam Khomeini Diabetes Clinic in Zabol. The criteria for entry into this study included Type 2 diabetes, hypertension higher than 140 mmHg for 90 mmHg, at least 6 months of diabetes mellitus, lack of mental health, non-insulin therapy, non-pregnancy and lactation, having a drug program The unit was considered as a type of Medtion and did not use tobacco and alcohol. In case of any of these cases, the sample was excluded from the study. Samples were randomly divided into 3 groups of 25 individuals randomly and without dropping during the study. First, blood pressure was measured in patients, then a group of garlic powder, the other group received cumin extract and the placebo control group for two months. Patients;#39 blood pressure was re-measured. SPSS software version 22 was used to analyze the data.
Results: The difference in mean systolic and diastolic blood pressure in garlic and cumin groups was statistically significant before and after intervention (P 0.05). But this difference was statistically significant after intervention (P 0.05).
Conclusion: In the present study, the effects of cumin and garlic on the improvement of blood pressure were observed. No special side effects were observed during the course of the project. Based on this, it can be said that supplementing garlic and cumin can be effective in controlling complications of diabetes, including hypertension.

Background & Aims: The concept of cultural competence is defined as the ability to interact effectively with people from different cultures. Achieving cultural competence is an important issue in educating students however, no study was found in the literature regarding the cultural competence among nursing students in Iran. The current study aimed to determine the cultural competence of senior nursing students in north-west Iran.
Material & Methods: This descriptive study is based on a model of cultural competence. A total of 212 senior nursing students were assessed using a cultural competence questionnaire. These students included all senior nursing students of Tabriz, Maragheh, Urmia, Khoy, and Ardabil Universities of Medical Sciences, with respect to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data were analyzed using SPSS-13 software program.
Results: The total cultural competence mean score was 73.69±12.1. According to the guidelines of the scale used to determine the level of cultural competence among nursing students, components of cultural incompetence, awareness, competence, and proficiency are classified under “cultural awareness” level.
Conclusion: Using specific active learning methods such as simulation seems appropriate to enable nursing students to develop their level of cultural competence.

Background & Aims: Family is the resource of psychological, physical, sexual and emotional needs of its members. This research tries to study and describe Iranian family in the concept of health and illustrate its basics and damages in.
Matherial & Methods: This research is a qualitative and phenomenological research. The data are gathered through deep interviews, research sample is a group involved 25 experts. Sampling was purposive and voluntarily.
Results: Analyzing the data showed that the experts of different field believe in a transitioned family so the Iranian family is a family that is going toward modern society. But this family is not standing firmly on the range of modernity and traditions so that in some aspects it is closer to the traditional family and in some others it acts like a modern family. In line with a global pattern, Urbanization, nuclear family, families with only one child, the growing process of cohabitants which is not legal and religiously accepted, single-parent families, a greater presence of women in society, and decreasing the power of the man in family and increasing role of children can be consider as signs of modernity in Iranian families.
Conclusion: This results can be used to develop prevention programs and the empowerment of Iranian families. In the long term, the implementation of programs aimed at informing families about the harmfulness of paying too much attention to the child, proper parent training, communication skills and problem solving training of family members can have a positive effect on the health and well-being of Iranian families.
