Role of omega-3 fatty acids on Postpartum depression

Background & objectives: Women at child-bearing age are at risk of postpartum depression. Several medications have been introduced for treatment, but according to their side effects and also breast feeding women's desire for dietary complements rather than chemical drugs, this study has been done to determine effect of omega-3 fatty acids on postpartum depression in women referring to health care centers affiliated to Tabriz medical university in 2008. Methods: This study was a double-blind randomized placebo controlled trial, which was done on 120 women with postpartum depression, who had including criteria's. First by using Edinburgh postnatal depression scale in women who gave birth 2 weeks to 3 months before, postpartum depression approved for determining the severity of depression, Beck depression Inventory scale was used. Women with mild to moderate depression who had a score 46 on the (BDI) enrolled in the study and randomly assigned to receive either placebo or 1gr of Omega-3 capsules for 8 weeks. Severity of depression was measured before treatment and weekly during treatment in both groups. The data was analyzed, T-Test, repeated measurements of one way ANOVA and chi square test in SPSS 14/ Win . Introduction: In the past decade musculoskeletal disorders was increased throughout the world. This problem was indentured organization staffs and lead to disability & resource wastage. Spinal cord is a sensitive organ and endures several mechanical pressures. So back pain is a common finding in disasters works such as nursing. Working in emergency condition encounter those suffering back pain. Methos & Materials: This research is a cross-sectional study that carried out among 110 khoy hospital nurses. Data gathering tool was questionnaire that contains 15 questions about demographic, occupational and back pain status among samples. We used content validity and reliability test- retest one. Also we used descriptive statistic as well as k 2 test too. Results : Findings showed that prevalence of neck pain was %56, back pain was %43, and lumbar pain% 78 and iliac pain was % 39 among samples. We don’t found any significant correlation between back pain incidence and work time in week (p=0/29), job history (p=0/27) and ogronomy awareness (p=0/45). But we found significant correlation between back pain incidence and ogronomy application (p=0/041) and soft exercise (p=0/048). Conclusion: According to the findings back pain is an important health problem among nurses. Nursing is a disasters job and health promotion of nurses can influence in public health services. So we must stop increasingly prevalence of this problem with inhancing nurses knowledge about orgonomy and promoting job condition in hospitals.

Introduction : Nowadays one of the most important methods for evaluation of treatment and care is to assess the quality of life (QOL). Chronic patient like diabetics are face with many disorder in dimensions of QOL . In this regard , the researcher wishes to survey the quality of life and its dimensions and the relational pattern between demographic characteristic and dimensions of QOL . Method : the sample consisted of 150 patients with type 2 diabetes who referred to Sina hospital of Tabriz (the Diabetes center of Tabriz university of medical sciences ) . subjects answered 3 sets of questionnaires : (1) demographic characteristic ,(2) standard instrument of QOL related to health , (3) specific instrument of diabetes which included : physical function , pain, daily activities , feelings , sleep , relation with relatives , overall health , problems and satisfaction with treatment methods . The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics ( mean , SD , variance ) and inferential statistics ( ANOVA , T test , linear regression ) . Result : the results indicate that physical dimension ( 71.33 % ) and social dimension ( 78 % ) in most of the patients were undesirable ,while psychological dimension ( 80.7 % ) and specific dimension ( 84 % ) in the patients were desirable . from the total numbers of patients , 61.33 % were female , 82 % were married , 10.7 % were graduated and 16.66 % were occupied . the results showed that independent variables ( age , marriage ,family income , educational level and sex ) were meaningful relationship with QOL . Conclusion : nearly half of mentioned patients were not have desirable quality of life in physical and social dimensions , it is suggested that programmers and managers should take care of bio- psycho- social support in such groups for improving quality of life in diabetic patients .

Evaluation of the Effects of Wasted Anesthetic Gases on Pregnancy Outcome in Operating Room personnel

Background and Objective: It seems that trace concentration of anesthetics presented considerable risk to operating room personnel, on the other hands some studies concluded that prevalence of abortion was substantially higher in female anesthetists than in females working outside the operating room. We designed a study for evaluation of the effect of vapor anesthetics exposure on outcome of pregnancy in female operating room personnel. Materials and Method: In a retrospective case control study 118 females who working in operating room (study group) and 180 females who working outside the operating room (control group) was enrolled in this study. History and outcome of previous pregnancies was obtained and recorded. Results: Mean age range in study group was 37.5±5.5 and in control group was 36±5. Survey of job stressors and coping strategies on nurses in psychiatric and general centers in urmia

Introduction : job stress is one of the most leading factors in our life. According to the International nursing Association report, 60-90 percent of health difficulties are as the result of stress. As its known, nursing as a profession has got a high level of stress. In the case of facing with stressful factors, using coping strategies become a necessity. Regarding to the importance of effect of stress on the quality of nursing tasks, this study was carried out to determine job stressors and coping strategies among nurses who are working in psychiatric and general centers. Methods and materials: This is a cross sectional study. Nurses who were included (n=108) . Data collection was done by using a researchers designed questionnaire and coppers coping skill subscale. The questionnaire included two sections, consisting demographic characteristic and job stressors (physical and psychosocial). Data were analyzed by statistical software program spss. Results: The findings indicated that the noise of wards (%44) and violence in patients (%36.4) were the most important physical factors in general and psychiatric centrs. Other’s attitude to psychiatric wards (54.5%) and addict patients (44%) in general wards were the most important psychosocial factors. Also the findings showed that, coping strategies such as " I try to recognize my limitations " (% 44) and " I regulate my work " (%40.9) were the most important coping strategies used by the subjects. Discussion: this study can pave the way for the future studies to establish some strategies to reduce job stressors and to increase the nurses. Coping abilities in general and psychiatric centers. Naturally it can lead to the job promotion of the people working in stressful places.
