  Nursing Students' Experiences of Clinical Learning in Emergency Ward: A Qualitative Study     Nikbakht Nasrabadi A [1] , Latifi M [2] *, Javaherzade N [3]     Received: 14 Feb , 2012 Accepted: 19 May , 2012   Abstract   Background and aims : training internship period has a fundamental role in forming basic skills and professional abilities of nursing students. Training in emergency unit is more important than other units. The goal of this study was to explore the nursing students' training experiences in emergency wards.   Methods : this is a qualitative-research study in which 12 nursing students involved in. students’ experiences which had been collected using in-depth face to face interviews and written narratives methods, were analyzed using conventional content analysis.   Results : since a huge number of primary themes were obtained by analyzing the narratives, they were summarized into five main themes including , an opportunity for gaining more clinical skills, confidence as a way of staff- students relationship, promoting practical self-efficacy along with continuous stress, training experience in a turbulent situation, and paradoxical experiences in educational reality.   Conclusion : although there are clear strengths in emergency unit training, there are some weaknesses as well, that can be eliminated by more clarification, employing proficient instructors and further educational supervision.   Keywords : students’ experiences, emergency unit, qualitative study, theme analysis.     Address : Saveh Palestine Square, Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery Saveh   Tel: (+98) 255-2440530, 9126624210   Email : mlatifi@razi.tums.ac.ir   [1] Associate Professor, Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Tehran   [2] MSc in Nursing, Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, Arak University of Medical Sciences, Arak (corresponding author)   [3] BSc in Nursing, Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Tehran
