Evaluation of Etiology of Vaginitis by Bacteriological   and Parasitological Methods in University of Medical   Sciences ‑Health Center's Urmia   Babazadeh H [1] , Mohamadzadeh H [2] , Mostaghim M [3]     Abstract    Introduction: In this investigation, vaginal discharge from 817 women who referred to health centers were obtained.   Methods & Materials: The specimens were tested by culture, Wet mount, Giemsa, and Papanicolaou staining methods. From 22 samples 15 positive results were obtained by direct staining methods. How ever, all of 22 samples were positive in culture methods.   This research revealed a correlation among all direct and culture are significant but the correlation between wet mount and culture (according to kapa test) was more significant than others.   The relationship among living conditions such as socioeconomic, culture, age and marital status, number of delivery, number of children, blood group was also investigated.   Results: The results show that there is a significant correlation between vaginal discharge, itching, illiteracy of husband and trichomonas vaginal infection. All 594 samples were tested by bacteriological methods candida albicans (6), E.coli (23), klebsiella spp.(8), pseudomonas spp.(2), staph aureus (9), streptococcus beta hemolytic (4), were isolated. Finally this research suggests culture of vaginal discharge for trichomonas vaginalis in diamond medium is highly sensitive (100%) and it is a standard method. As a result, this research suggests for investigstion of etiology of vaginitis not only the samples should be tested in bacteriological methods, but also the specimens should be culture in diamond medium.    Key words: Bacterial Vaginitis, Trichomonas Vaginalis   Instructor of Microbiology, Urmia medical Sciences University - [1]   Instructor of Parasitology, Urmia Medical Sciences University - [2]   Instructor of Parasitology, Urmia Medical Sciences University - [3]
