Background & Aims: Inability to calculate the dose in intensive care units is the most common medical errors. Which can lead to serious injuries and even death in very badly ill patients Objective: The present study aims to determine the medicine computation ability of nurses who engaged in ICU in Rasht didactic remedial research centers2016-17. Material & Methods: This research is an analytic descriptive study which nurses' drug calculation ability incritical care units from hospitals affiliated to Gilan Univ Med Sci 2014-2015.Data collection tool was a dimerism questionnaire that the first part included 7questions about. Individual occupational and second part included 4 questions about mathematics related to metric unit’s conversion and 10 questions aboutdrug intra venous that used in ICU part. Data analysis was done using by descriptive statistical computation (frequency distribution, mean, and standard deviation) deductive statistics (Spearman correlation coefficient, Man whitny, ChorsicalValis) Result: The findings showed that drug calculation ability level in study samples was 75% in good level 7.19% in medium level and 33.3% in poor level, only Based on the ward significant difference was observed in the ability to calculate drug(P=0/0001).Most drug calculation ability in the Department of Cardiac Surgery, General Razi was the lowest in the sector and there was a medium positive direct relation between the metric units conversion ability and the medicine computation ability (r=0/504) andR2 =0/176 Indicates that 17/6 percent calculation ability of medication is linked to their ability to convert metric units. Also The percentage of correct drug calculation is21/67 percent. Conclusion: Based on the findings, that there is little correlation between the ability to calculate drug and the ability to convert metric units Also, due to the low percentage of correct calculation drug samples under study. The importance of proper planning in order to improve drug calculation seems necessary.
