Background & aims: Hospital infections are one of the problems of hospitals in all countries. Nurse as a member of the health care team plays a vital role in controlling and preventing these infections. In this study, the knowledge, attitude and practice of nurses of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences Hospitals has been investigated regarding infection control.
Material & Methods: This descriptive-analytic study was conducted in Shiraz in 2017. The research population consisted of all nurses of educational hospitals of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, among whom 340 from 10 hospitals were selected as sample size. Data were collected through a questionnaire and analyzed by t-test, ANOVA and Pearson correlation coefficient in SPSS23 software.
Results: Knowledge score (104.71 ± 12.15), attitude (62.79 ± 8.27) and practice (141.64 ± 14.24) of nurses about infection control were in good condition. There was a direct and significant correlation between knowledge, attitude and practice of nurses regarding infection control (p
