The Relationship between Religiosity, Self-control and Drug abuse Kazemi Y [1] , Nikmanesh Z [2] Received: 18 Oct, 2010 Accepted: 8 Mar, 2011 Abstract Background & Aims: Some investigations show that social disorders have been increasing in Iran recently. Examining related factors helps to reduce these disorders. The present study aimed to investigate the relationships between religiosity, self-control, and drug abuse . Materials & Methods: In this study, correlation method was used. There were 354 students of Sistan and Baluchestan University that were selected by stratified random sampling. Three researchers designed the questioners of religiosity, self-control and drug abuse. Results: The results show that religiosity and self-control are related positively and significantly however, these two have a negative correlation with drug abuse. The stepwise regression analysis demonstrates that self- control was the strongest predictor and entered the equation first, followed by religiosity . Conclusion: Increasing religiosity will result in enrichment of self-control in students. Nevertheless increasing religiosity and self-control will decrease drug abuse. These two variables could predict 0.07 drug abuse.
