A survey on Nurses Clinical Problems in Patient Education Vahedian Azimi A [1] *, Payami Bosari M [2] , Gohari Moghaddam K [3] Received: 26 Jan, 2011 Accepted: 19 Apr, 2011 Abstract Background & Aims: Patient education is one of the most fundamental roles of nurses. It has a significant impact on prevention and treatment of many diseases. It is necessary to recognize barriers and resolve them. The present study aimed to survey nurses 'clinical problems in patient education. Materials & Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive analytic study was conducted on 145 nurses, working in different wards that were selected through simple random sampling. A questioner was used to collect data. Result: The most common replies were as follows: no specialized nurse for patient education, inconsistencies in the culture, social and mental status of patients, their families, and low knowledge of nurses about ways to educate patients. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that the main barrier is lack of specialized nurses to educate patients.
