Enhanc ing management of mothers during adolescence of their daughters in guidance schools of Urmia Ahangrzadeh Rezaei S [1] , Khalilzadeh H [2] Received: July 27, 2011 Accepted: September 23, 2011 Abstract Background and Aims: Adolescence and puberty is one of the most sensitive periods of human life that causes the person feel and behave differently. Undoubtedly adolescence directly affects nutritional status and nutrient needs and is associated by physical activity, emotional and social changes. Therefore, this study was conducted to promote the management of mothers during adolescence of their daughters in guidance schools of Urmia. Materials & Method: This quasi-experimental study included 80 mothers and their daughters. The questionnaire was Endler and Parker's Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations (CISS) that included demographic data and research objectives. A pre and post test was taken. The data were analyzed using inferential and descriptive statistics were used. Results : The findings showed girls knowledge on nutrition issues during puberty increased significantly in clinic one of physical problems in clinic two and three respectively (p=0.076, p=0.01, p=0.04). Maternal training improved nutritional issues during puberty in clinic two and in connection with physical problems in clinics one and two, respectively (p=0.013, p=0.04, p=0.022). There was no significant relationship between training and psychological-social problems among mothers and daughters. Conclusion : This study showed that training offers dramatic changes in knowledge of adolescents and their parents during puberty. It is recommended to continue such training courses in schools for both teens and their mothers to enhance managing puberty period.
