  Introduction: Child health provision is community health provision, in fact. Infancy is the growth period and forms personality. Child abuse makes serious damages to children health and growth in these important and critical years. So, diagnosis of risk factors of child abuse and proper interventions can be an effective step decreasing child abuse prevalence.   Materials and methods: This cross sectional-descriptive research, carried out on 203 nursing students of Yazd and Zanjan Islamic Azad University. Data gathering tool was a 2-part questionnaire: 1- demographic data 2- neglection and abuse history (emotional and physical). After completing questionnaires by samples, the data were analyzed.   Findings: Results showed the samples had experienced emotional abuse (23%), physical abuse (16%), emotional neglection (9%) and physical neglection (3%) an intermediate level in their childhood. There was a significant relationship between the number of brothers and emotional abuse, economic status and physical abuse and emotional neglection, divorced parents and emotional neglection, addicted father and emotional neglection and abuse and also physical neglection, addicted mother and physical abuse, father with psychological disorders and emotional abuse and neglection. Discussion : According to results, there is a relationship between parents' characteristics and child abuse. So, it is necessary to plan and perform a preventive educational programs in a proper time to prevent identified risk factors of child abuse prevalence.
