Background & Aims: One of the most critical periods in a girl’s life is becoming adolescence and essentially puberty. Psychological changes may lead to depression that is the most prevalent mental illness today. Depression or depressive disorder is a very important factor on psychic troubles and suicidal attempts. The purpose of this investigation is to determining the frequency and intensity of depression among high schools girls in Khoy.Materials & Methods: This investigation is a descriptive study which was performed on 216 apparently healthy adult girls chosen from Khoy high schools via haphazardly multi–process sampling. The research tool was a questionnaire being categorized into two parts. Statistical analysis of the data was done using SPSS.Results: The investigation results show that 22% of investigation units suffer from depression in different degrees which among them 16% few and 46% average depression have.Conclusion and discussion: mental instability and lack of psychical balance is one the prominent characteristic of adulthood and depressionare very important factors in appearing mental troubles and suicidal thoughts. With regards to the fact that adult girls are future mothers and their psychical health is very important and also necessary for training children, therefore we can use nurses at health centers and also in educational system as counselors in connection with maturity matters and adulthood problems.
